Forum TurisTIC 2026with Eurecat
The 14th edition of Eurecat's congress on technology and tourism, devoted to cultural tourism, at the Auditori TBS Education. Attendees followed the sessions in their language on their phone.

The day
Forum TurisTIC is the congress on innovation and the application of technology to tourism organised by the technology centre Eurecat, with the backing of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona Provincial Council and Barcelona City Council. Its 14th edition took place on 8 June 2026 at the Auditori TBS Education in Barcelona.

This year’s theme was “Digital innovation and cultural tourism: transformative and regenerative experiences”. Culture took centre stage in a special year for Barcelona, World Capital of Architecture, which marks a hundred years since the death of Antoni Gaudí and 150 since the birth of Pau Casals. The programme was organised into four blocks: Attraction, on how to promote and personalise the experience; Inspiration, on new narratives; Emotion, on new cultural experiences; and Connection, on the relationship with audiences during the experience.
Genís Roca, an expert in business development and digital culture, opened the congress with a talk on artificial intelligence as a cultural shift and what it can bring to cultural tourism. Natàlia Ferrer, a lecturer at the Universitat de Girona, presented regenerative tourism and the Regenera4Med project, and Michelangela Di Giacomo, a curator at the M9 museum in Venice, took part in the Inspiration block.
There were case studies too. Eurecat showed how the sound of historic spaces can be reconstructed, with its work on Notre-Dame de Paris and the Palau Moja. Moco Museum Barcelona presented the MuseMetrics pilot, a platform that uses predictive models and artificial intelligence to look after its collections and anticipate visitor flows. The Agència Catalana del Patrimoni Cultural explained how it uses virtual reality in its “Els Ulls de la Història” programme, and Libelium how data and digital twins help manage more sustainable tourism.
What we set up
At the Auditori TBS Education we set up Speech for Forum TurisTIC. A QR code opened the sessions on attendees’ phones; each person could then pick a language and go with either the voice of the AI interpretation or a live text of the speakers’ words.
