Forum TurisTIC 2025with Eurecat
Eurecat devoted the 13th edition of its tourism and technology congress to food and wine, at the Auditori TBS Education, with simultaneous translation of the sessions on attendees' phones.

The 13th edition
On 18 June 2025, the Auditori TBS Education in Barcelona hosted the 13th edition of Forum TurisTIC, the congress on innovation and technology in tourism organised by Eurecat, the Technology Centre of Catalonia. It was promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council and Barcelona Provincial Council, and could only be attended in person.
Its theme was “Gastronomic revolution and tourism: a journey towards innovation”. That year Catalonia was World Region of Gastronomy, and the congress highlighted food and wine tourism as a source of innovative projects and of value for local communities, within the new paradigm of regenerative tourism.
Food, wine and technology
Toni Massanés, director general of the Fundació Alícia, presented and hosted the day. The keynote was given by Anna Pollock, founder of Conscious Travel, who proposed seeing tourism and hospitality as living systems, tied to other ecological and social systems, and putting them at the service of the wellbeing of host communities and of those who visit them.
A panel on food design brought together Barcelona Creativity & Design Foundation, Plat Institute, Makeat Barcelona and CETT Barcelona. In the wine tourism session, Eurecat presented Enotour, a project with wineries in Spain, Italy, Portugal and France to showcase their experiences through automatically generated narratives and immersive virtual tours. And among the regenerative tourism cases, Aisee showed an app that reads ingredient lists in any language and uses artificial intelligence to interpret them according to each user’s allergies or intolerances, while Effiwaste presented a platform that measures food waste in kitchens and treats it with automatic composters.
What we set up
The programme announced that each speaker would talk in their own language and that there would be simultaneous translation from Catalan and English into Spanish for the whole audience, through their own headphones connected to their phone. We provided that translation with Speech: a QR code projected in the hall opened the session on each attendee’s phone.
